Agents, explained
An agent is a focused workbench that owns one job. Here is how to add, create, and organize them.
In Numen, an agent is a focused workbench that owns exactly one job — detecting anomalies, planning a budget, or keeping the books. Rather than one giant screen with everything crammed in, you pick the handful of agents your work actually needs, and each opens on its own page.
Library vs. custom agents
There are two kinds of agents. Library agents are preset templates that ship ready to use. Custom agents start as a request: describe what you want in plain language — if the library already covers it, Numen recommends that preset; if not, the NUMEN team reviews your request.
| Type | Where it comes from | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Library | Preset templates in the catalog | Common jobs like anomaly detection or budget planning |
| Custom | Requested in plain language — reviewed and shipped by the NUMEN team | A workflow no preset covers |
Adding an agent from the catalog
Your active agents live in the sidebar. To add more, open the Agents catalog from the sidebar and pick one.
- 1Open the Agents catalog from the sidebar.
- 2Browse the library presets, or switch to request a custom agent.
- 3Add the agent — it appears in your sidebar and opens on its own page.
To reorder your agents, drag them in the sidebar into the order you prefer. To remove one, open its options and remove it — this clears it from your sidebar, not your underlying data.
Requesting a custom agent
You do not configure a custom agent by hand. Instead, describe what you want in plain language — for example, "track weekly cash burn against runway and flag when it accelerates." Numen first checks the library: if an existing agent already covers your need, it recommends that preset so you can start right away.
If nothing in the library fits, your description is sent to the NUMEN team as a request. We review every request, and accepted ones are built and shipped in a product update — you'll be notified when the agent becomes available in your workspace.
