Master data & registries

The reference data every Books agent runs on — accounts, customers, items, assets — plus company info, permissions, and files.

Registries hold the master data that the rest of Books references. Set them up well and every agent runs cleanly; leave them messy and the AI struggles to match documents while your reports drift. This is also where the admin tools live.

What you can do

  • Maintain the account master / chart of accounts that every entry posts to.
  • Keep registries for people, partners, items, and assets in one place.
  • Organize your business into profit centers and cost centers.
  • Manage Company Info, Permissions, and the File Manager.

Admin tools

  • Company Info — re-open the company details and opening balances you set during onboarding.
  • Permissions — control who can view and edit each area.
  • File Manager — the shared store for documents attached to entries.
Tip
Set up profit centers and cost centers before you start posting. They drive divisional P&L, cost analysis, and labor-cost allocation — adding them retroactively means re-tagging entries.
